A cast iron skillet made its way into our home, 5pm yesterday. To my surprise, Tommy came home with it all excited.
He made a wonderful steak dinner on it yesterday with mushrooms and truffle butter, so tonight was my time to *try* to top that.
The Dinner First..
Looking up recipes for an iron skillet, someone somewhere on google wrote “the skillet was made to fry chicken.” 💡lightbulb, please.
Not only was I then craving some good fried chicken, the thought of adding on Spiceology’s Nashville Hot seasoning got me thinking. A sandwich or an entreé? Didn’t matter! I picked up some Tuscan bread just in case and Parmesan cheese to top this off.
A side for this- 🥦 broccoli rabe pan-seared with olive oil and freshhh garlic. As Beckham calls broccoli: “trees.”
Yes! Didn’t think you’d ask, but the chicken was so crispy! Way crispier and delicious than a chik-fil-a sandwich. And it was only fried in Extra Virgin Olive Oil. So crunchy on the outside, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. Is it the chef or is it the pan? 😃
To drink: a favorite, you’ve seen it before on this website, and here it is again. Stella Solstice Lager 🍻
So listen, I can’t take all the credit here. Tommy’s the one who 1) brought the pan home and 2) ordered this fabulous Nashville spice from Spiceology. But don’t forget who combined the two!? ☺️
The Mini Succulent Garden
I found the cutest white clay pot at Walmart. For $7.00 it was a complete steal. Already at home I had 50 lbs of white marble gravel ($4.00 at Lowe’s btw for all of that gravel), extra dirt, and succulents that are growing so much their offsprings need to be replanted.
This little succulent garden was made for less than $9.00ish and it is really so modern looking and pretty.
I went back in and added a “string of bananas” to dangle over the side to dress it up.
I love how this dinner and little project turned out! Maybe next time I’ll feature Tommy’s cooking skills 😃.
Make sure your day doesn’t succ, 🌵🎍. My next plan: look for a new porch set. Any suggestions?
Cheers, beaches.
