I wish we could get away to a really beachy place, such as the Keys, but for now we will bring a part of the Keys to home (I’ve never even been there 🙁 ). A few ways to do that is by sprucing up our home made margaritas into a beachy theme and also by making our own version of a key lime dessert. We can call this dessert: Key Lime Sea-Shells. You’ll see.
Simple is the way to go, as I am always down for quick and easy recipes. It drives me crazy when something looks delish and then you see that there are 20+ ingredients involved.
Key Lime Sea Shells
So stinkin’ easy!
I love key-lime pie, but I am too lazy right now to make a whole pie (because you have to have it homemade, of course.) So instead, I found a cute way to have a simple taste of key-lime. And it may be healthier…? 🙂 It is made with madeliene cookies, and a plus is that they look like sea-shells!
You just need:
- 2 madeliene cookies (makes up one serving of this)
- Coconut Whipped Creme
- 1 Lime
All you have to do is:
- Take 1 madeleine cookie
- Squeeze lime directly on the cookie
- Spray whipped creme onto the flat surface of the cookie
- Grate some zest of a lime onto the whipped creme
- Squeeze more lime over the whipped creme
- Place the other cookie on top (if you chose)
- You can always eat this with one cookie, flat faced
Beachy Drink Ideas
#1 Blue Ice Cubes:
Blue Ice Cubes – I made these like a simple sugar ice cube. This way, when they melt along with your drink, you get a nice lime taste instead of a watered down taste.
All you have to do is fill a cup with with water, sprinkle as much Blue Sugar as you’d like over the water, and finally squeeze about 2 limes. No need to measure. I wouldn’t exactly go heavy on the sugar, okay 🙂 Then mix and place into your ice tray.
#2 Fruit Shapes
Cut your fruit into Shapes! I chose to make stars for a star fish theme out of oranges. I just free handed the stars.
#3 Add Garden Herbs to Look Like Sea-Weed
Lemon Thyme looks so cute and adds a great flavor to water or your cocktail. Cucumber in any drink (water, cocktails) tastes great, too, and can look beachy if you cut it into long pieces.
If you are going to add a straw, check out my post on FinalStraw. It is a compact, reusable straw that you can bring anywhere with you. A very awesome invention worth checking out.
