That is all it is! Three ingredients! So easy. And if you don’t have espresso, cold coffee would do just fine!
The story behind this is, running around with an almost 16 month-old is getting harder. Totally fun, I’m loving this mom thing.. but dang! I sometimes don’t eat breakfast because time falls into a black hole. Also! I need something easy to pack for the nightshift on the weekends. Something that is high protein for energy and that contains a bit of a boost! I’ve been resorting to plain coffee (yum) and/or a diet coke but they make me crash! There is no nutritious content in those two choices that prevents crashing. 🙁
With this shake there is nutrition! Espescially if you are like me and on the run.
A high protein snack will prevent the crashes and provide energy. The caffeine is just an added boost!
Anyway, here ya go moms, dads, and peoples on the run!
You will see in the recipe that a Premier Protein drink is used.
- Yes, it is dairy-based. This can be subsitituted for another strawberry-flavored non-dairy protein drink. This was just the easiest to use, and I personally don’t mind this brand.
- There is 30g of protein in one container. Your body will not absorb 30g of protein at one time, this is why I recommend use of 1/2-3/4 the amount of the container. You can always drink the remainder as a snack later in the day or save the rest for your next shake.
- There are so many other flavors that would go well with this, I was just curious about how the strawberry would turn out. It was so summery and yummy. 🙂
- If you don’t have a blender, use the protein drink instead of your coffee creamer. No worries!
- Feel free to choose another flavor if strawberry is not your thing!

What You Need:
- 1 16 oz glass and a Blender
- Handful of ice cubes
- Espresso or coffee. However much you need, really. I did 2 shots of Nespresso.
- 1/2 to 3/4 container Premier Strawberry Protein Drink. 1/2 if you want more of a coffee flavor, 3/4 if you don’t. Save the rest of the container for your next smoothie or drink as a night time snack; no need to waste.
- Bonus ingredients that are nice to have but not needed:
- freeze dried strawberries for garnish
- whipped cream topping for garnish
- Hershey’s Strawberry Syrup to decorate
The How:
- Add all ingredients into a blender. Blend for about 30 seconds. The longer you blend, the frothier the drink gets.
- Enjoy! And garnish if you’d like.
